Uncle Iroh, aka Kevin

Site Owner, Forum Master Admin, Soon to be Ruler of the Universe

A native of Long Island, NY, USA, Kevin is currently seeking his Bachelor of Science in Physics. Post graduation plans include a Masters Degree in Astrophysics and attending Medical School (a doctor and a rocket scientist, who'd have thought!).

He is pictured here at the top of Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, the largest radio telescope in the world. He got to run it (for an hour) as part of an Astrophysics project he is currently working on with other colleges and universities this summer.

This Fall he will be attending a semester in Tokyo, Japan for study abroad. Work this summer will go to somehow paying for his plane tickets.

Interests: Science, not sarcasm, helping people, and of course Maple Story- the single greatest reason he does not update the site as often as he should. He has a pro-Beginner, level 60, on Broa server in GlobalMS. JOIN HIM NOW =D

He has been a part of the Portal community since Late September 2006. He was promoted to the newly created Dai Li admins in November, and managed to gain Ultimate Admin abilities in August of 2007. He bought the current site in March 2008. At this rate he should do something amazing sometime in mid to late 2009.

Avatar Portal History

February/March 2006: LittleRain founds the original AP site and Forum. With help from admins Beastie, FoxDemon, Hedgepig, and Sam.

November 2006: The first Dai Li (forum admins) are voted in. They are: CharcoalRav3n, Halomaster, zukomyprince, Scarlet Cougar, and Uncle Iroh.

January 2007: The second group of Dai Li are voted in. They are: LOSTfan91 and AirDrake.

June 2007: During the long wait for the airing of Season Three, Nuncle Zero suggested an event to get all the fans back into Avatar during the long hiatus: an Avatar Renaissance. With the forum picking which of the four nations they would join, events were created by the members to test their knowledge of Avatar and their skills as fans. Scarlet Cougar's RPG proved to be a big success during AvRen, and became the main attraction sort of speak.

September 2007: The great AvRen comes to a close. Uncle Iroh gains Ultimate Admin abilities via FoxDemon, and becomes de facto head of the forum. He also promoted Scarlet Cougar to the position for her tireless work in AvRen and to the forum. From here, a new set of Dai Li are promoted from the members. They include: Hybrid, Scooz the Jungle Gym Queen, David the Last Cabbage Bender, Gotag, SOTS, evilboy, Taunt, Conzu, and ZutarAangDelta (ZTAD).

February 2007: First Avatar Portal "Dance" is held. The Dance consisted of a few threads dedicated to couples interacting for a couple nights to celebrate Valentine's Day with one another on the forum.

March 2008: New Avatar Portal site (the one your viewing now) is bought by Uncle to give the community a new and updated webpage. He gets help from new Ultimate Admins (now known as site admins) SOTS, Rutvik, Scooz, Scarlet Cougar, Gotag, and later zukotokozu.

April 2008: FTW and SOTS head to NYCC for the Avatar Panels. On top of being able to meet the creators themselves, they were able to stream their adventures in NYCC live on Ustream for all Avatar fans who couldn't make it. Much thanks to them for their efforts for us all!

May 2008: Old Avatar Portal site, owned by LittleRain, ceases to exist. AvRen'08 Kicks off.

July 2008: AvRen'08 comes to an end. More importantly, the FINALE aired. The Finale was aired live from the Avatar Portal by SOTS, Uncle, and FTW for fans who weren't lucky enough to have a TV available or have the Finale air in their country. Over 1600 fans tuned in the stream (960 in SOTS' stream alone!). SOTS' stream was the number one stream on Ustream when it aired, with FTW coming in 4th and Uncle coming in 5th. Thanks to them all for all the fans who wouldn't have seen the Finale otherwise!
