- The Avatar Portal was originally founded by
LittleRain as www.theavatarportal.com. She created a great
TV-to-internet process for Avatar episodes, thus making them available
to people all over the world who would not get to see them otherwise.
LittleRain also made the Avatar Portal Forum which soon became one of
the largest online Avatar communities in the world. The forum boasts
the most freedom of the major Avatar sites, with helpful and fun loving
fans.
The Avatar Portal Community is cool
- After a year or so, personal
reasons prevented LittleRain from updating the site or the forum. The
site fell into inactivity, and the forum into near disrepair with only
a couple admins active through a whole summer. After much persistance
and work by both the admins and the members, the forum whethered the
trouble to become as great as it is now. And in March 2008, Uncle Iroh
bought this new site (finally) to give the Portal an active website.
The community got a new home page to show the world that it is still
here for its fellow fans of Avatar around the world.
The Avatar Portal Community is strong
- Making episodes avilable around the world has
attracted millions of people to the Portal (the counter on the old site
was over 2.5 million). Not all countries air Avatar or sell the DVD's.
But due to English's prevailance across the world and LittleRain's
great idea, people could still view Avatar on the Portal. People from
over 70 countries in all 6 populated continents of the world visit the
Portal regularly, with particularly powerful showings from the
Netherlands (over 5%), the rest of Northern and Central Europe (over
8%), and Australia (over 5%).
