Words from Tycho:

The trailer for The Last Airbender materialized yesterday, and there isn't much to see there, but the commentary that surrounds the production has been surging steadily for months.

I always thought Aang was white, so that shows what I know. I'm right there with the growing chorus, though, when it comes to M. Night Shyamalan's bizarre choices for Katara and Sokka, about which there can be no reasonable interpretation. Hearing the appeals for justice on the issue, the studio changed out their Prince Zuko for someone else, someone more racial, even though he's not the right race, alongside other mystifying, indefensible selections. This is apparently much more complicated than I thought...?
From now on, I will not try to reason with the idiots I encounter. I will dismiss them by waving my hand and saying "Bah."

OMG! If I could give you karma, I would. I personally want to see Morgan Freeman as Appa now. xD

On another note, I don't think M. Night's choice for Sokka was so bad. Jackson Rathbone has a Sokka-like look about him, mostly when he smiles; I haven't seen much of his acting (besides acting like he's always in pain when he played Jasper in Twilight) but I have seen interviews of him, and he seems like a fun guy. That, to me, is exactly what we need for Sokka.

As for Dev Patel playing Zuko... I'm not so sure...
I've seen Slumdog Millionare, and Dev did a pretty good job in the movie. His small scenes of anger and fighting made me think of Zuko in a way, so I know he can pull of the anger part. I'm not sure he can pull off everything else... >.>

As for the girl playing Katara... never seen anything she was in, so I have NO IDEA. xD

I bet Morgan Freemen could do a good Gyatso.
The perversity of the Universe tends towards a maximum.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Aang Ain't White movements. I actually never considered the actual RACE of the characters until it became an issue. I think that, as long as they resemble the character, and can act like the character, it's okay. I'm fine with Rathbone and Peltz (although I do think their skin colors could be a little tanner), but I really don't like the casting for Dev Patel. I'm not saying he's a bad actor, in fact, quite the opposite. However, he just doesn't remind me of Zuko in the slightest.

Nevertheless, I wish the best of luck to the cast and crew, and I'm looking foward to this movie.
