Wow lot's of comments. I'll try to tackle them all in one post now.

Incorporating the actual martial arts moves associated with the bending is somewhat impossible. It's not that it's hard or anything, but with the way this engine runs, it would be hard to tell the difference of the styles and it would most likely turn out crappy. When you attack, your sprite changes to an attack sprite for a split second then reverts back to the normal walking or still sprite. It's possible for the engine to be modded to have a turn-based fight system like old school Final Fantasy (which then, it would be more possible to incorporate the styles and such, but for that to happen, I would need a really really gifted spriter). At this moment though, I'm more concerned with getting some of the mapping and NPC writing and making and general story outline done.

All Air Nomads will be airbenders. There won't be an "Air warrior" class since I'm under the belief that such thing would contradict their culture and their beliefs. Plus, I'm pretty sure all of them were benders. So if you choose to be an Air Nomad, you'll be an airbender and only an airbender.

This MMORPG will have a blend of seriousness and humor just like the show. There will be quests similar to things that happened in the show and original quests as well. I could use some more NPC/item/monster/story writers and makers, so I welcome all of you. Again though, please, oh please shoot me a private message if you want to help so I can send you all the files and programs you need. Thank you all for showing interest!

Are our forum names going to be the names used to login and play this MMORPG? Also, will there be interaction amongst players such as trading, in-game messages, and private messaging? Will there be a universal currency or each nations specific currency? If each nations specific currency is the one you guys go with, how will each currency be weighed against another? How would we make money? Will there be skills to train/level? Will there be different ranks or positions of players with more/less experience? (Grandmaster, Master, Expert, etc.) Will there be an army system with martial rankings also? That's a lot of questions. :P I don't really know what to expect, but I wish you the best of luck.

Forum names will not be universal with the MMORPG. I mean you can choose to make your login name for the MMORPG the same as your forum one, but it won't be automatically put in there from the get-go if you understand what I'm saying. There will be trading, in-game messages, private messaging, partying, pretty much almost everything you expect to see in an MMO made by professionals will be in this game. I'm working on making nation specific currency, but I'm not sure how I'll weight it. I imagine Air Nomad money will be worth the least when compared to others when trying to use that currency in a different nation as their culture is gone when the game takes place. You'd make money by killing monsters, selling loot monsters may drop, and hell, maybe even finding some on the field. There will be skill points you get as you level them up and you can put them into certain attributes to make yourself more DPS or Tank, or a Magic user. There will not be different ranks and such within players nor will there be an army system.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You wouldn't see the styles in the game because when you attack, the sprite only changes to one sprite rather than a fluid animation. Mainly because the game as it is right now hasn't been coded to be turned based.

I'm very intrigued by this idea. I wish I could be of assistance to you, but I haven't an ounce of game-making experience to my name. So I'll just pop in a few ideas and squeal like the pathetic fangirl I am.

Now, you said that the world will be "massive" and that exploration will be a part of the game, which I'm looking forward to immensely. Are we looking at exploration more like in Runescape, where you can take your character through every part of the map on foot, or more of a FF-type thing where (in the one game I played at least, forgive me if I'm mistaken) you see the map and click on various cities and areas to go and fight? Or even a more Pokemon-esque feel, where you traverse on foot but are much more limited in where you can go?

Also, my cousin wants to know if pets would be added, maybe after the more important aspects of the game have been established? I'm not sure what good they'd be except maybe to carry some items for you, unless you can own flying dragons and bison, but they'd be cute!

Another question: if we'll be able to explore the world in a Runescape-type fashion, will we have access to things like ships for a fast way to go long distances, do you think? Or, if the Air Nomads, flying bison and dragons are back in existence (will they be?) would we be able to pay for passage to far away places or something?

When it comes to the "moves" and styles of bending, I was thinking... I'm assuming at this point (rather blindly) that you'll be going for a Final Fantasy type fighting experience, which would suit me just fine. If that's the case, then perhaps it would be possible to have the different "moves" named, with varying levels of damage caused by each one and different levels of experience needed to learn new, more powerful attacks. Maybe for the higher levels you would need to seek out a master and have a quest in order to learn them. That could be a good way to incorporate some of the different attacks into the game, even if we can't see them being performed.

Thank you and good luck to you and all of your helpers! I'm getting very excited for this already.

i created my AP account for this purpose (tho, i will continue to post, seeing as how i am ÜBER PUMPED for this movie and stuff...) but yeah my one purpose was to tell you that you GOTTA put a PAI-SHO (is that how you spell it?) mini-game in the MMORPG. that would be way to boss. plus, then i could actually learn how to play :P but yeah i'm pumped

Dude, I would Never want you to waste time making a 2d mmorpg..... Take all the time you can, and just get and buy up all the equiptment you need to make it 3d. Please don't make it look like a third party game! Make it have simular graphics to runescape at least or better. But that said I will help though, But I'm not that good at scripting though. I'v done a little Lua scripting and some scripting on the Oblivion editor. We could try to find torrents of 3d editors and other programs so we don't have to pay a pinny! I plan on helping you make it as complex as WoW, But I cease to have near of that Knowlage. But I do need some what of teachings.

I also made an account just for this post! Sorry if I'm a little late getting on the bandwagon! I'm not sure how helpful I can be with the technical aspects of this project, however I would still love to help. I helped run a text based rpg (original universe and characters), along with 2 of my friends for 6 years. We were rather successful until we all got busy with college and such, so I have a little experience there. I also have 6+ experience in adobe photoshop and indesign (I specialize in creating graphics, layout design; I've been an editor for an award winning college yearbook for three years now), as well as general photoediting and logo design.). I would love to help in any way I can, especially during the scripting process (I'm an English major, I love to write and any excuse to do so makes me absolutely estatic! If you need someone for editing I'm your girl!)
Please let me know if there is any way I could help, as said before, I would love to be involved in this project!

To update people somewhat, the development team has undergone some problems with members being absent for long periods of time.

In particular, Sots, the member in charge of the project, has been missing from the forum and the project entirely for months now because he is busy with other things in his life, from what I can tell.

For now, all development is simply postponed until Sots comes back and starts running things again. I, for one, still hope to eventually make this project finalized. But, until Sots comes back, nothing else can be done.

We'll be sure to post here again whenever there's anything new to report.

Also to add to Pleh's post,
Sots was in the middle of alpha or beta testing his MMORPG, and this was just a few days before he wet on temporary leave.

1. See the 2 posts above. The testing was not in Alpha, nor beta though.
2. Little. This is somewhat of an alternate universe inside Avatar world - the world is there, but not the original characters.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep4/ep4-807.png <-Name is the fan. I got this one.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep5/ep5-181.png <--- Enter Earth Kingdom weaponry.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep5/ep5-304.png<- Aha! I'll look for a better picture of this weapon.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep5/ep5-740.png <--- In a word, awesome

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep7/ep7-505.png <--- Not a weapon. Concept stuff for ostrichhorses, which I believe SOTS and I have determined is definitely going to be in the future.
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep7/ep7-505.png <-- more complete picture of the beast itself, but I used the other one because I liked the lantern idea.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep7/ep7-973.png <--- Iroh was improvising, but I believe we can use a similar design for effective whips. I'll post June's whip next to this one when I find it.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep8/ep8-99.png <--- Whole sword and up close, but moving.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep9/ep9-709.png <---- Kind of hard to see.
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep9/ep9-713.png <---- This is the idea.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep9/ep9-718.png <---- I don't know if this should really be a weapon since nets would require some pretty tricky scripting, but the double-cross bow would be pretty cool if you ignored the net.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-242.png <---- The old bone club action

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-275.png <------ Some interesting swords that would be easy to add.

http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-539.png <--- I like this knife.
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-540.png
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-540.png
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep10/ep10-542.png <---hm. I think this would require special scripting so you can skip the secret compartment for now and add that as a special item later

I'm afraid that I'm uneducated in the names of most of these weapons. Are the fictional items only belonging in Avatar or are they inspired by real weapons that have real names already?
Even the swords might have a more specific name I don't know.

EDIT: I had initially meant to just post the first image, but my research is turning this single post into a living thread which is updating quite a bit. When I see something I'd like to make into an item, I'll just post it here. To keep this thread short, I'll probably just use this one post for everything I have to say here.

I really enjoyed looking at their weapon, but I really like sword especially scottish claymore.

Those are indeed nice swords, christopher. But remember that this game is supposed to be set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, which is based on asian culture and weaponry, which does not really include anything european.
