Just a note: yes, I am open to criticism, but let's maintain a semblance of respect, yes? Thanks, and please enjoy!
Chapter One
The End
After the few days of celebration had passed, Aang, Sokka, Katara, Zuko and Toph decided it was time to plan for the future. Walking through the streets of Ba Sing Se, Sokka began the conversation.
“Alright, listen up guys. I’ve been thinking and the best idea I’ve been able to come up with includes us separating. At least for a while.”
The group, now in a loose circle, looked somber.
“You’re right, Sokka. I can’t see any way we can all stay together and get things back to order” Katara replied. “We can figure out everything tonight.”
The gaang walked through the beautiful city they had saved, soaking up the details they would soon leave behind. In a spontaneous display of earthbending, Toph made a monument, a tapestry made of stone depicting the final battle in its entirety. Everywhere they went; the group was greeted with elation and gratitude.
But everything was not quite right with the gaang, or with the city.
Upon returning to their temporary residence in the upper ring, Aang sat down tiredly as Sokka pulled out their map.
“We should be keep in contact with each other,” Sokka put forth
“We can communicate using messenger hawks. Also, I’ve been thinking. We should keep a record of the rebuilding of the four nations. Toph and Haru will be in the Earth kingdom, and Suki and I will be near the water tribe. Have you guys thought about what to do?”
“I’ve got a fire nation to rebuild and run.” Zuko reminded them.
“I should go with Zuko, at least for a while. I can improve my firebending and create goodwill at the same time.” Aang suggested. Zuko nodded towards him, and Aang looked to Katara.
“I think I should go with Aang.”
Sokka briefly looked up, before agreeing. “You two should stay together. You’ll have each others’ backs, just in case something happens.”
“And it’ll make the both of them happier, won’t it?” Toph joked.
Aang and Katara exchanged smiles of relief.
Back in the streets of Ba Sing Se, another meeting was going on.
“I hereby name this the first meeting of the Black Dragon.” A dark figure pronounced each word meticulously. In the corner, a scribe sat, furiously taking notes. Several other dark figures surrounded a round wooden table. In the candle light, their shadows seemed to sway and grow, suggesting something darker than them.
“The Avatar has defeated the fire lord, and this we know is irreversible. The firelord has no other heir but Zuko, and according to our law, he must reign. An uprising is coming, and it must be stopped. Long live firelord Zuko!”
“Long live firelord Zuko!” they repeated, and the flames of the candles burned brightly.
~~~~~
It was night, and Aang had packed up Appa’s saddle in preparation for the next day. Lying on Appa’s side, the Avatar was looking at the stars.
“What now?” He wondered. And in a flash, Aang was traveling in the spirit world.
Upon realizing where he was, Aang looked around, surprised. Circling him were many hundred of the past Avatars. Roku stepped out of the ranks, and bowed to Aang.
“Well done, Avatar. Despite our advice, you found an even greater way to defeat the enemy but retain your merciful ways. There is something we must show you.”
Aang’s past lives disappeared, and he was left on a strip of glowing violet light, the same as he had seen under the teachings of Guru Pathik.
