The APP (Academy for Psychological Problems)

Postby vani » Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:28 am

Lirra took it and started to work. 'Lift the paper clip up, turn it right.... no. left.' The handle unlocked.

"Come on!" Lirra peeked around the door. "Uh... actually, who wants to go first?

Marik watched, quite interested as the girl proceeded to pick the lock on the door. "Who wants to go first?" she asked. Marik stepped ahead and through the door. This punk wouldn't catch him off guard again. He looked around; the boy was no where to be seen. He slowly turned around, searching the roof for him, but to no avail.

Marik turned back to the doorway and shrugged. "He either grew wings and flew away, or jumped," he said, looking towards the edge of the roof. Marik didn't think that anyone could have survived the five-story fall that would await them over the edge.

"You mean, he's gone?" Lirra looked through the door and up towards the sky. "Do you think he went to the bell tower? I doubt it...."

Marik frowned up at the tower. It was a possibility...But the kid obviously wanted to be left alone, so he didn't press it. He turned back to the two girls. "I doubt it too. If he went up there he would be trapped and he obviously doesn't like being in a corner. Well, I say that we leave him alone for now. Sound good? We can catch him later; after all, he can't stay up there forever, you know?"

Dion walked from his hidig place back into the main building. Gathering art supplies he went of to help teach Mrs Merriweather's class art and expression. he had to do this for part of his art course here at the academy. He walked down the stairs and towards the canteen, hoping to grab a pickle sandwich before the class.

Marik shrugs in answer to Lirra's question. "Yeah, I could eat, I guess. What did you have in mind?" Just then, the boy walked past, completely ignoring the small group standing by the door. Marik raised a finger, to ask him a question, but dropped it as the heavy door slammed shut behind him. "Well, let's go get some food, shall we?"

Lirra smiled. "Great! Uh... Where, exactly, is the cafeteria? I'm kind of... new..."

Marik gave a small laugh at the girl's bewilderment. He turned to walk down the stairs and spoke over his shoulder. "Follow me. I know where it is." As they walked through the building, Marik's mind began to wander and his feet went on autopilot. He was somewhat surprised when they came upon the cafeteria. "Um, well, here we are," he said, sweeping his arm out in a grand gesture.

After he made his way through the food line, he took a seat, motioning for Lirra (and the other girl?) to take a seat across from him. "Okay, random question, I know, but do you speak any other languages? I find the study of foreign languages to be fascinating."

(Sure! Go on ahead!) (And, I'm sorry for not being on in such a long time. I've had a lot of schoolwork.)

Lirra sat down across from Marik. "Other languages? No... Well, actually, I know pig-latin!" She picked up a menu. "What about you? Do you know any other languages?"

"Well, one would think that I could speak Arabic, from when I used to live in Egypt, but I have forgotten most of it. I still remember a little bit, though. But aside from that, I can speak Spanish pretty well and I know a little bit of French, German, and Latin. Oh, by the way, I would stay away from the Fried Chicken. It's more than a little sketchy." Marik had his fair share of experience with creepy school food at this place, and would like to spare others from having to go through the same. It was the least he could do.

"I don't know..." Images popped in Lirra's head about things that happened in what seem like distant places. One of which was her and her sister.

Lirra's sister, Ayla, had autism. They did everything together! They both loved snakes and slides... and they were both artists! Even with autism, Ayla was a magnificent artist, though, her drawings were always a bit... different. Lirra and Ayla were a very close pair... until they were both kidnapped. Lirra shivered when she thought about it.

'No. It doesn't matter anymore! It's done, over with! Ayla is... in a better place.'Lirra snapped back into reality when she remembered where she was and who she was with.

"I'm sorry. I just thought of something. Maybe I'll be a painter."

Name: Elias

Nationality: Greek

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Problem: Selective Mutism. "a social anxiety disorder in which a person who is normally capable of speech is unable to speak in given situations, or to specific people." This problem has not always been present in Elias' life, it manifested itself around his 7th birthday when his parents passed away in an accident. This sudden shock and the move to a new environment (orphanage) completely shut him off from everything. Whenever in a new situation or an uncomfortable one he goes extremely silent, as a result he doesn't have much for friends and is extremely reserved. Since the orphanage couldn't deal with him he was sent off from Greece so that he could attend the Academy.

Personality: Due to his disorder Elias is a very reserved person yet he is incredibly passionate about the things he loves, however this side of him is rarely or never seen by others. He will occasionally speak when spoken too however when in large groups or in front of class he is completely silent, most often thought to be completely mute.

Bio: Elias was born in Athens and where he spent his entire childhood until he was moved at the age of 14. His parents passed away in a car crash about a month after his seventh birthday, sadly he had no remaining relatives as both his parents were only children and he was sent to live in an orphanage. However the orphanage wasn't a terrible home, it was well funded and he even formed a small relationship with one of his caretakers. It was this caretaker who decided to send him to the Academy. Elias is a very talented person, spending the majority of his time studying away from others he often is among the top grades in the class. His true passion however lies within the arts, both musically and artistically Elias spends much of his spare time playing piano, guitar, various classical instruments and working on paintings and sketches. His most prized possession infact is his sketchbook, a compendium of all his songs and drawings.

-----------------------

Elias trotted through the schools campus, his sketchbook and art case under his arm as he sought out his traditional seat beneath a large tree standing tall over the courtyard. Taking a seat he rolled up both the sleeves of his shirt and opened his sketch book. He flipped through the pages until he came upon the one he had started the previous week, it was of the Pantheon. He had been dreaming of visiting home lately and as a result of his homesickness he had started this piece. It spread across two of the large pages in his book and was a detailed drawing of the architectural wonder with the sun slowly setting behind it.

Karra had wandered off, having been hit with the sudden need to be alone. she found herself in front of her room, and figured it wouldn't hurt to change, even though her clothes were dry.

after changing she left the room and walked around aimlessly. soon Karra was once again outside. she looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. she closed her eyes and stood there letting the breeze wash over her. troubling thoughts were brushed aside for the moment, it filled her with a brief sense of peace.
she hadn't noticed if anyone else was out there, and for once, she didn't care.

Without moving his head from his sketchbook Elias watched as someone entered his secluded courtyard. Averting his eyes back to the page he once again busied himself with his shading.

Holding the drawing up slightly in the air he smiled at the result, completely forgetting about the other presence. It was one of the greatest feelings, in his opinion, finishing a piece. With a quick flourish of his wrist he jotted on his well practiced signature and flipped to a new page and rested his head against the tree, his head abuzz with new ideas.

"A painter, huh? That's pretty cool! I wish that I could paint or something like that. My Mom was a painter..." His voice trailed off slightly as his eyes misted over a little bit. Suddenly, they snapped back into focus and narrowed slightly at Lirra. While his eyes remained locked onto Lirra's face, his whole body appeared to undergo a change. Of course, nothing really changed, just the way that his body was held. His shoulders dropped slightly and his head lowered just enough so that he was looking up slightly at Lirra and his hair hung in his face.

"Do I know you?" he asked, continuing his inspection of Lirra. This happens from time to time and is the main reason that Marik was sent to the Academy.

"I'm fine," he responded, somewhat harshly. He gazed around the room disdainfully. "Cafeteria, huh? Marik must've been hungry." He then looked down at the list of food in front of him. "Can't believe he eats this kind of stuff," he muttered. He then looked back at Lirra. "So, if I know you, then who are you?"

The boy c0cked his head to the right, an incredulous stare plastered on his face. "Are you kidding? An evil spirit? Why would I ask if I don't remember you? Wait, you're one of Marik's friends, aren't you." He nodded his head, mulling that over. "That would make sense. You still haven't answered my question, by the way."

"My name's Orion. As far as 'what' I am, I am the other half of Marik. He's nice, fun-loving and cheerful. I'm--" he shook his head violently. His shoulders squared, his head came back up and the playful twinkle returned to his eyes. He looked around for a moment, then at Lirra. His cheeks burned red. "So, uh, I guess that you just met Orion. I'm really sorry about that. He comes out sometimes when I'm particularly distracted. I really am very sorry about that. I'll understand completely if you don't want to be my friend." Marik's head lost a little bit of its proud posture, sinking down slightly as he waited to hear Lirra's response.
